Urological Associates of Southern Arizona, a well-established large urology practice has an opening for a Nurse Practitioner. Urology background preferred, but not required. Under the responsibility and supervision of a physician the NP is responsible for:
•Evaluating patients in outpatient clinic. Initiating examinations, conducting and reporting urologic test results, and documenting actions taken in the patient's chart. Performing tests and procedures as indicated and approved by the supervising physician.
•Ordering and scheduling laboratory studies and diagnostic procedures as appropriate; explaining the necessity, preparation, nature, and anticipated effects of scheduled diagnostic and therapeutic procedures to patient.
•Following discharged patients and providing them with the necessary care instructions. Providing items necessary for maintenance care including prescription medications, nonprescription medications, and home care supplies.
•Responding to acute patient problems on a walk in basis and monitoring patient's response to prescribed treatments. Responding to queries from families and other care givers.

Knowledge and Skills Required:
•Knowledge and proficiency of the principles and skills needed for urological patient care and treatment.
•Ability to establish and maintain effective working relations with our doctors, patients, and the public.
•Excellent communication skills.

Required Education/Experience:
•Bachelor's Degree in Science or Related field
•Successful completion of an approved Nurse Practitioner Program
•Urology experience highly desired.

Licensure, Certification, and Registration:
•Licensed as a Nurse Practitioner to practice in the state of Arizona.
•Certification from the American Association of Nurse Practitioners.
•Current CPR certification.
